In Krista’s Words:

“Before I had Lap Band surgery, I felt my life was out of control. I was extremely unhappy. After graduating from college I gained a substantial amount of weight. For the next 6 or so years I hired several personal trainers, and tried every diet I knew of. I tried desperately to lose the extra weight, but nothing worked. At the age of 27, I was suffering from depression, edema in my legs, and sleep apnea. With a family history of diabetes, I knew I had to find something to help me get both my weight and my health under control.

I heard about the Lap Band procedure in early 2007. I was young and hoped to eventually have a family; therefore I needed to find a weight loss surgical option that wouldn’t interfere with that dream. After learning that the Lap Band procedure was minimally invasive, and could be reversed if necessary, I knew the Lap Band was the best choice for me.

I first met with Dr. Myur Srikanth in the Fall of 2007. Dr. Srikanth was extremely thorough and very informative. He was very candid and answered every one of my questions. He spoke of the pros and the cons of the different procedures, and we discussed why each might or might not be a good option for me. I had Lap Band surgery on February 6, 2008. I was both scared and excited at the same time. To date it was the best decision I have made in my entire life.

Dr. Srikanth is very strict when it comes to vitamin regimen and aftercare. The staff at the Center for Weight Loss Surgery monitors you very closely to make sure you stay healthy as the pounds come off. They urge you to maintain a daily exercise routine, and offer support groups. I truly believe that all of these things contributed to my success, and enabled me to lose over 100 pounds (and reach my goal weight) in the first 8 months following my surgery.*

It has now been almost a year and a half since I had the Lap Band surgery, and so much has changed. I no longer suffer from depression, edema or sleep apnea. I don’t worry about diabetes on a daily basis. I enjoy going to the gym, walking, and running. I love my new body; I can go to the beach and wear a bathing suit with pride. I look and feel healthy. My confidence has soared in both my personal and professional lives.

I don’t know where I would be today if I had not gone through with the Surgery. I am grateful for the C4WLS staff and everything they have done for me, because the Lap Band has changed my life in so many ways. It may sound like a cliché, but I really do feel like a new woman!” – Krista
